Reverend Doctor Derek Maurice Dumas was born on October 16, 1972 to the parentage of the late Mr. Moses Dumas, Jr. and Dr. Geraldine Floyd Dumas. He was educated in the Bibb County Public Schools System. He was baptized at an early age at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Macon, Georgia. He was an active member and participated in all Church, Sunday School, and Bible School activities.
Reverend Dumas attended Georgia College and State University, Milledgeville, Georgia and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Administration. He then furthered his education at the Turner School of Theology at Southern Christian University, Montgomery, Alabama and earned a Master of Science degree in Christian Ministry. He then attended the Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camilla, Georgia where he received a Doctor of Ministry degree with a concentration in pastoral leadership.
Prior to entering the ministry, Reverend Dumas served faithfully as a deacon at Greater Lizzieboro Baptist Church, Macon, Georgia under the leadership of his grandfather, the late Rev. Moses Dumas, Sr. He traveled nationally with his grandfather and was well known in Baptist circles as an astute workshop facilitator and Baptist hymn leader.
On July 17, 2000, he accepted his calling into the ministry. A theologian first, his hymn raising gift is an extension of his preaching ministry. After serving as assistant pastor of Greater Lizzieboro Baptist Church for six years, and after the death of his grandfather, he accepted the call to Pastor and has faithfully served God's people by preaching the gospel nationwide.
He is a popular and widely recruited revivalist. As pastor of Greater Lizzieboro Baptist Church, he is truly a visionary par excellent. He preaches with power, demonstrating God's anointing that guides him as he navigates through the Word of God. He is currently leading the church forward in the ways of the Lord. He has penned the church mission, "Seeking the lost, and building the found." He facilitates regular Christian education workshops, retreats, and conferences to spread the gospel on every level. As a result, the church is experiencing spiritual as well as physical growth and expansion.
Reverend Dumas is involved in the local community. He is a member of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, National Baptist Convention USA, and Lambda Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
